Latency is when a data packet is transmitted and returned back to its source, the total time for the round trip is known as latency. Latency refers to time interval or delay (time) when a system component is waiting for another system component to do something. Latency = delay or the amount of time it takes to send information from one point to the next point. Example Bandwidth is like the size of a pipe of how wide or narrow the pipe is and Latency is like the amount that flows through a pipe in other words it come down to the speed which is the combination of both bandwidth and Latency to determines your speed.

Bandwidth is the rate of data transfer, bit rate or throughput, measured in bits per second (bit/s). The more bandwidth a data connection has, the more data it can send and receive at one time. Bandwidth can be compared to the amount of water that can flow through a water pipe. The bigger the pipe, the more water can flow through it at one time. Bandwidth works on the same principle. So, the higher the capacity of the communication link, or pipe, the more data can flow through it per second.

Jitter, or Network Jitter, is the variance in time delay in milliseconds (ms) between data packets over a network. It is a disruption in the normal sequence of sending data packets. The technical term for jitter is “packet delay variance”.

  Packet loss occurs when one or more packets of data travelling across a network fails to reach their destination. Packet loss is either caused by errors in data transmission, typically across wireless networks, or network congestion. Packet loss is measured as a percentage of packets lost with respect to packets sent. The Transmission Control Protocol detects packet loss and performs retransmissions to ensure reliable messaging.

Network Congestion in data networking and queueing theory is the reduced quality of service that occurs when a network node or link is carrying more data than it can handle. 5G is the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.


 Like its predecessors, 5G networks are cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. 


All 5G wireless devices in a cell are connected to the Internet and telephone network by radio waves through a local antenna in the cell. 


The main advantage of the new networks is that they will have greater bandwidth, giving higher download speeds, eventually up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbit/s). 


Due to the increased bandwidth, it is expected the networks do not exclusively serve cellphones like existing cellular networks, but also be used as general internet service providers for laptops and desktop computers, competing with existing ISPs such as cable internet, and also will make possible new applications in internet of things (IoT) and machine to machine areas.

 4G cellphones are not able to use the new networks, which require 5G enabled wireless devices.

4G is the fourth generation technology standard for broadband cellular network technology, succeeding 3G, and preceding 5G.


 A 4G system must provide capabilities defined by ITU in IMT Advanced. Potential and current applications include amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, and 3D television.


The ITU-R set standards for 4G connectivity in March 2008, requiring all services described as 4G to adhere to a set of speed and connection standards.

 For mobile use, including smartphones and tablets, connection speeds need to have a peak of at least 100 megabits per second, and for more stationary uses such as mobile hot spots, at least 1 gigabit per second.

 Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is a standard for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals, based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA technologies. 


It increases the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvements.
